Gender Expression & Identity - MOC/FOC

Panelists:Hope Freeman, Genesis Tramaine, Ryan Holmes, Stef Harvey, LaShay Harvey, Constance Robinson, Delhia Emaneul, and Thiadora Pina, Esq.

Stud, Femme, AG, Butch, Lipstick, Tomboi, Princess -- Is your head spinning yet? In this workshop we've pulled together a panel of women along the spectrum of gender representation to discuss the black, the white, and the grays of gender expressions/identities in our community.This facilitated discussion will explore the topics of sexual identity, image, and how we judge ourselves and others leaving participants to consider whether how we define, label, and/or judge ourselves and others is limiting and/or empowering.  

The Power of Visibility

Facilitator: Alyssa Asonami, The Stud Magazine

Pre-judgments   based solely on appearance can lead to assumptions.  The STUD Magazine mission is discussed, specifically the importance of the placement of MOC images in public/private spaces.  An uncomfortable sense between individuals who see MOC images can lead people in two directions:

(1)- Negative energy > which leads to negative remarks, due to the fact of “the fear of the unknown” and therefore not knowing enough.

(2) - Forced dialogue >can lead to possible uncomfortable conversation,  which then can lead to awareness and understanding in relation to the cultures and truth to masculine women.

Mama's Mojo Bag: Creating and Using Spiritual Tools to Augment Power and Purpose for Lesbians of Color

This workshop offers attendee’s opportunities to learn to create and experiment with various spiritual tools and technologies to create a person/life specific spiritual protocol and practice to heal, augment purpose and awaken to spiritual power

Women's Health & Wellness - Coming Out to Your Physician, Health Risk, STDs

Moderator: Dr. Kim Parker

Panelists: Dr. Nancy Norman, Dr. Julia Ireland, D.O., Lisa L. Moore, PHD, LICSW, and Dr. Jodi Panther

Coming out to your physician is risky if you don’t know him/her. This workshop will provide ways to come out to your doctor as well as shed light on prominent health risks and STDs impacting LBTQ women of color. We will also address the psychological and emotional issues we may face as LBTQ women of color and provide participants with the tools to improve and protect their mental health and quality of life.

Campaigning for Awareness & Rights

Facilitators: Mandy Carter, Denise Simmons, and Alejandra St. Guillen

In this introduction to politics and social activism, you’ll learn about issues that need your support and how to get involved in making a change locally and nationally.

Let’s Talk About Sex: Beyond the Taboo

Faciliator: LaShay Harvey, M.Ed

Do studs only date femmes? Can two studs find love with each other? Time to confront your biases! In this session, participants will discuss the social taboos and internal biases we face as LBTQ Women--and women in general--as it relates to understanding sexuality.

Beyond Trans 101:  Engaging with Trans Women of Color

Facilitator: Alyssa Kwan and Lina Morales

Trans women of color are more than just trans. In this session, learn about some issues uniquely facing trans women of color vs other trans people and other women of color. Explore the role that multiculturalism factors into being trans, as well as the role of intersectonality in the lives and experiences of trans women of color. Most importantly, learn what it means to be a better ally to trans women of color.

Fundamentals for Maintaining a Long-Term Relationship/Partnership

Facilitator: Tikesha R. Morgan, Hema Sarang-Sieminski, and Tre Andre Valentine

The honeymoon doesn’t last forever! In this session, pick up some tips to put the fun, romance, and sexy back into your relationship. This session is open to those in long-term relationships, new relationships, and couples seeking new ideas. This session will also teach participants the signs of intimate partner abuse and how to avoid, prevent, and escape an abusive relationship.

We Are Family - Latina and Black Relations, Creating a Community for US

It's no secret that there are a number of issues that both unite and divide Hispanic/Latina and Black women in the LBTQ community.  In this open discussion, participants will engage in frank, honest dialogue about what is required to work, live, and love together to assure meaningful relationships in our community as LBTQ Women of Color.
